A farewell to UK Resistance

Popular games journo Gary Cutlack has officially called time on his popular video games blog UK Resistance.

The blog, which was a winner at the first ever Games Media Awards in 2007, has for a long time been a favourite amongst industry insiders for its glorious combination of brilliant writing, high-level offensiveness and outright foolishness.

It was at one time part of the ill-fated Shiny Media group, though owner Gary Cutlack saw fit to sever ties with the company prior to the turbulence of 2009.

"It’s time. Or rather, it was time about three years ago and we have only just got around to making it formal," a short statement from Cutlack reads.

"I’m going out. Might be some time. Save me a few of those Sonic The Hedgehog pasta shapes, if they haven’t gone rotten inside the tin. Thanks for everything, everyone. It’s been character defining."

What will you remember UKR for? There are plenty of things you may recall about it including its wonderfully flippant Blue Sky Campaign, it’s unashamed adoration of Sega (or perhaps its unashamed hatred of Sony) or even the times when it dared to say what others would not.

A moment’s silence, please.
