2012 3DS release Animal Crossing: New Leaf broke back into the Japanese Top Ten last week, according to the latest data from Famitsu.
The zoological life-simulation title, which came out in Japan on November 8th 2012, made the number 10 spot in the software chart, with sales likely boosted by post-Christmas price cuts.
At the other end of the rankings Yokai Watch 2: Shinuchi continued its winning run, while Pocket Monster (Pokmon over here in the UK) Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire retained its second-place spot.
The rest of the chart remained similar to the past few weeks, with a dearth of new games contributing to a relatively slow week for Japanese games retail.
However, another stand-out return to the chart is the PS4 edition of Rockstar’s crime opus Grand Theft Auto V, which sat in eight place below Nintendo kart racer Mario Kart 8.
Over in the hardware chart, the PlayStation Vita overtook the New version of Nintendo’s standard 3DS. The New Nintendo 3DS LL (XL) remained steadily in first place.
Lower down, Sony’s PS3 last-generation console sat above the XL edition of the 3DS, while the original 3DS took sixth position.
