The rumours were true – the world will finally get its first look at the Apple iPad 2 next week.
Apple has begun sending out invites to a San Francisco based reveal scheduled for Wednesday March 2nd at 18:00GMT. It is to be held at the Yerba Buena Center, which incidentally is not far from GDC which will be taking place at the same time.
The invitation, which can be seen pictured above right, clearly shows the corner of an iPad below the Apple calendar logo. The only text to accompany the image states: "Come see what 2011 will be the year of".
Details of the new hardware itself are surprisingly scant, considering the level of leaks that preceded the iphone 4 reveal.
What you can expect is the introduction of cameras, a higher fidelity screen, more processing oomph and possibly the removal of the home button – a first for an iOS device.
