Backlash concerns keeping Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 out of western markets

Koei Tecmo’s Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 won’t be heading to western territories due to fear of backlash over the game’s representation of women, developer Team Ninja has said.

In a post answering a fan question on the officialDead or Alive Facebook page, a representative from the company stated it has no plans to bring the game to US or Europe regions.

We do not bring DOAX3 to the west and won’t have any plan change in the future,” the rep wrote.

Team Ninja would later follow up on the original statement, explaining the relatively recent surge of support for women in games reform is something the team isn’t seeking to fall afoul of.

Do you know many issues happening in video game industry with regard to how to treat female in video game industry?” the firm’s statement read. We do not want to talk those things here. But certainly we have gone through in last year or two to come to our decision. Thank you.”

Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 is currently scheduled for a 2016 Japan-exclusive release on PS4 and Vita.
