Battlefield 4 Premium gives players early access, server priority

DICE and EA have given the first details of Battlefield 4 Premium, a service that gives fans access to extra content for the hotly-anticipated shooter.

The paid content follows the success of Battlefield 3 Premium, which was launched back in 2011.

During its Gamescom press conference, Electronic Arts promised Premium would give players access to five expansion packs and 12 battlepacks, which include new weapons and gadgets.

They will also receive new content every week, and be able to access certain content two weeks ahead of everyone else.

Finally, Premium owners will be given "priority server cues" to ensure that they can always enjoy the multiplayer mode.

UPDATE:Electronic Arts has since released more information about Battlefield 4 Premium.

A year’s membership will cost you $50, and can be transferred from Xbox 360 to Xbox One or from PS3 to PS4.The two weeks of early access is for the expansion packs, which have been dated.

Second Assault will be available on Xbox One first, and features reimagined versions of Battlefield 3 maps. This will be followed by China Rising in December.

Naval Strike will be the first 2014 expansion pack. Launching in Spring, this will focus on ocean combat. Summer 2014 will see the release of the last two expansions Dragon’s Teeth and Final Stand.

Premium members will also receive exclusive personlisation options for their multiplayer soldier, incluidng camos, emblems and dogtags.
