BBC 5Live pushes video games show into primetime slot

BBC Radio has strengthened its focus on video games by promoting its Game On segment to the masses.

Hosted by Adam Rosser, the GMA-nominated show was previously broadcast during the graveyard shift on 5Live at 2:30am and only available via iPlayer for seven days. But now the station is airing the dedicated video games show as part of its popular Let’s Talk About Tech podcast online.

It’s great news for the show and for 5Live. They’ve finally started to listen to my wild protestations,”
said Rosser. 5Live’s Saturday Edition has, with its coverage of tech and web news, established a beachhead that we’re able to exploit. Adding Game On into the station’s Let’s Talk About Tech strand will get the content out to an existing audience and draw in a new cohort of listeners.”

It’s a timely move, too, as the industry approaches its busiest time of the year with E3 and Gamescom.

We’ll be covering E3 and Gamescom, of course,” said Rosser. As centrepieces of the calendar they’re key to getting a handle on what’s coming up and I suspect that this year we’ll get a much clearer idea of what the landscape’s going to be like for the
new consoles.”
