Crytek reportedly misses payroll as company denies bankruptcy rumours

Crysis and Cryengine maker Crytek has apparently been plagued with recent financial difficulties, as the company failed to make its most recent payroll at both its UK and Bulgarian offices.

Eurogamer reports on the missed paydays, which follows an original article from German outlet GameStar claiming the studio was flirting with bankruptcy.

The latter report cited a source from a large publisher stating the vultures are circling,” adding that rival companies have already attempted to poach Crytek’s top talent as well.

The GameStar report also claimed Crytek may be close to securing funding from a new source – naming World of Tanks publisher Wargaming as one possibility.

A Crytek representative has since denied the aforementioned claims to Eurogamer:

"Regardless of what some media are reporting, mostly based on a recent article published by GameStar, the information in those reports and in the GameStar article itself are rumors which Crytek deny."
