Destiny sales drop 78 per cent in second week, but holds No.1

Activision Blizzard scores its second consecutive No.1 for Destiny this week, despite the game’s sales dropping by 78 per cent.

It’s a big drop, but it’s generally in keeping with what happens the week after a big game launch. PS4 remains the dominant platform for Destiny, and over 72 per cent of PS4 sales this week being of the Destiny bundle variety.

It means last week’s big release, Disney Infinity 2.0, has to settle for second place. The game actually sold 32 per cent more units than its predecessor managed. And kids games, generally, tend to sell over a longer period of time compared to the likes of Destiny or Call of Duty. So expect this Marvel tie-in to hang around for a few weeks yet.

There is another new game at No.3 and it’s Hyrule Warriors on Wii U – the cross-over between Zelda and Dynasty Warriors. The next new release in the charts is also a Nintendo platform exclusive, Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call’ makes its debut on 3DS at No17.
