Driveclub PS Plus Edition pulled after ‘prematurely’ going live

The long-awaited PS Plus version of Driveclub finally arrived yesterday – only to be pulled almost immediately.

‘Premature’ may not be a word one would typically associate with Driveclub, the free version of which was originally due to arrive alongside the main game last October. But that’s the word the game’s Twitter account used to describe the short-lived launch yesterday.

Store update today with the Driveclub PS+ Edition was premature,” it said. The servers aren’t ready yet, so it’s been removed while we get them ready.”

The game’s director Paul Rustchynsky said earlier this month that Evolution wasin the final stages of development" of the game. Previous to that Evolution had said that the game’s servers are being replaced and upgraded.

Recent patch notes added that significant technical improvements will be made to enhance server connectivity and prepare for the PlayStation Plus Edition”.

DriveClub launched on PS4 last October but was beset withtechnical problemsfrom the off. So serious were the issues that the planned release ofa free versionfor PSN subscribers wasput on iceand eventuallypostponed until further notice”.
