EA promises a smooth UK launch for SimCity

The server woes that darkened SimCity’s US launch yesterday will not be repeated when the game hits the UK this Friday.

That’s according to EA, which has vowed to correct the wrongs of yesterday’s mistakes by the end of the week.

"We’re making changes to prevent further issues and are confident that Origin will be stable for international launches later this week," the Origin Twitter account stated.

Yesterday it admitted that high demand” for the game had led to delays impacting a small percentage of users”.

That didn’t stop the noise online and on social networks creating the illusion of there being far more significant problems, however, with some users facing a 30 minute wait to access the servers needed to play the game.

It won’t just be EA hoping for a smooth ride on Friday. Lots of publishers turn to DRM in an effort to combat rampant internet piracy, but sagas such as the one we’ve seen this week simply amplify DRM’s critics, making the PC space tougher for everyone.
