More than five million gamers use EA’s online download platform Origin every day, says the publisher’s COO Peter Moore.

The former EA Sports boss told Screen Play about the service after being heckled at the EB Games Expo in Australia last weekend by one member of the audience.

“We're only four and a half months in and already over five million people are using [Origin] on a daily basis,” said Moore.

“As I said to the young man who shouted at me, I think two years from now we'll be back down here in Australia and talking about how it really enhances and complements the gaming experience, not gets in the way of it, which I think some people do believe right now.

“And like any piece of software, and I worked at Microsoft for enough years to say this, you launch software and continue to polish it, upgrade it, get feedback and make it better. That's where we are with Origin.”

EA launched Origin earlier this year. The Steam rival allows users to download EA games to their PC or mobile. Certain titles are exclusive to the platform such as the upcoming PC MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic.

I will still continue to be exclusive to steam better deals and larger community, easy to use and is where all my gaming friends are at. Considering it is cheaper to release DD instead of boxed content (no shipping overheads) naturally the games should be cheaper! However on Origin they are the same. At least steam regualrly discounts the games even if it's only 10% it soon adds up and publisher catalogues promotions can save you a fortune!
