Elite: Dangerous Premium beta goes live today

Those who have purchased to 100 Elite: Dangerous Premium Beta can get stuck in from today.

Frontier has released a single player combat build of the game ahead of the roll out of the full Premium beta on May 30th. Those who have previously purchased any of the other assorted game packages will be eligible to upgrade to the Premium beta.

The ongoing Alpha has also been expanded to a fourth phase, which adds two new modes of faster than light travel and a full Milky Way galactic map containing 400,000,000,000 star systems. Gameplay itself takes place in a 200 cubic light year volume of space.

The Alpha process has worked well for us,” Frontier CEO David Braben. We have gradually built out the key elements of the game, first locally, with single player combat, then with a few thousand players across the internet.

I want to take this opportunity to thank all those who have played such an important role in Alpha testing, and I’m very happy that we will continue to benefit from their valuable input as they test Beta builds approximately 2 weeks in advance of release.”
