Force Awakens leads to odds slashed on Star Wars Battlefront Christmas No.1

William Hill has named EA’s Star Wars Battlefront as the second most likely to contender to claim the title of UK Christmas No.1.

It has chosen to slash the odds on the game due to the expected impact of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which is released worldwide next week. The company is currently offering odds of 6/5 on that film becoming the highest grossing movie of all time, surpassing Avatar’s $2.76b worldwide total.

All of which means Star Wars Battlefront is now at 5/2 behind only Call of Duty: Black Ops III at 7/4 as the top running for the festive chart crown.

Third favourite is FIFA 16 at 7/2, which is the current UK No.1.

Other odds include Fallout 4 (4/1), Assassin’s Creed Syndicate (16/1), Guitar Hero Live (20/1), Metal Gear Solid V (33/1), Destiny (40/1), Grand Theft Auto V (50/1), PES 2016 (50/1) and The Uncharted Collection (50/1).

Star Wars Battlefront has surged up the betting from an original 7/1 and as the hype surrounding the movie increases,” William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly said. We think demand for the game will do so and it could easily be the number one game this Christmas.”
