Gamers upset over Colin McRae Rally PC port

A host of negative reviews suggest that gamers are unhappy with Codemasters recent Steam release Colin McRae Rally.

From the developers of the multi-million selling franchise and based on content from the 90 per cent Metacritic rated Colin McRae Rally 2.0,” the 4.99 game’s listing reads, although it does add: Colin McRae Rally for Windows PC features all the tracks and cars from last year’s top selling mobile title with THIRTY amazing rally stages with a combined distance of over 130km.”

The trailer also says the game is re-mastered for HD”.

However, as with the mobile port on which it is based the game lacks car customisation features found in the console original, as well as some of the tracks and cars.

If you want an ‘HD remake’ of Colin McRae Rally, you are out of luck,” one user wrote. You can’t change any car settings, and even the driving physics are bad. I bought this thinking it was the original game. I messed up real bad.”

Another added: I thought that I was buying remastered CMR as trailer told me. But it was just a dream – a hoax. That is a rip off, and shame to original series.”

And a further comment: I sure do love ‘HD’ remakes of old games that have marginally less pixelated graphics and take out well over half the content of the original game.”
