Google Daydream VR arrives next week

Yet another VR competitor will be arriving on the scene next week in the UK, US, Germany, Australia and Canada.

Google’s Daydream VR headset will go on sale on November 10th and will cost 69 in the UK. It can be had either directly from Google itself, or alternatively from EE of Carphone Warehouse. It will cost $79 in the US, €69 in Germant, $99 CAD in Canada and $119 AUD in Australia.

The device is compatible with the firm’s recently released Pixel and Pixel XL Android smartphones. It’s not yet known how it will compare to other smartphone-based systems such as Google’s own cardboard or Samsung’s Gear VR, but it does include a small wireless controller for additional functionality.

It launches with a range of VR apps including YouTube VR, Google Play Movies and Hulu VR, as well as VR animation Invasion. Also ready for launch are space exploration simulator Star Chart VR, a VR version of Google’s Street View, a Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them companion app and VR apps from both The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal.

Launch games include Need for Speed: No Limits VR, Home Run Derby, golf title Wonderglade, space shooter Gunjack 2, puzzle outing Mekorama, demonic jaunt Hunters Gate and the somewhat wonderfully titled Danger Goat.
