Grand Theft Auto V reclaims UK No.1, Nioh debuts at No.2

Grand Theft Auto V has shot back to the top of the UK games charts, ending the reign of Capcom’s Resident Evil VII to claim its twelfth UK No.1.

Sales of Take-Two’s mega hit rose 1 per cent week-on-week, and it’s now one of just five titles to claim at least 12 No.1s on the All Formats Top 40 – the others being Who Wants To Be A Millionaire (which has 18 No.1s), Wii Fit (16 No.1s), Zumba Fitness (13 No.1s) and FIFA 14 (12 No.1s).

Meanwhile, newcomer Nioh went straight in at No.2 last week, but GfK notes that in terms of overall revenue, Nioh actually debuted at No.1, thanks to its higher price of 44.45.

Either way, both Grand Theft Auto V and Nioh resulted in the end of Resident Evil VII’s time at No.1, pushing it down to No.3. Sales of Capcom’s survival horror title decreased 45 per cent week-on-week, but it was still enough to keep it ahead of FIFA 17, whose sales fell 20 per cent week-on-week to take it to No.4.

Hitman: The Complete First Season also saw a large drop in sales last week, falling from fourth to eighth as sales decreased 50 per cent week-on-week.

However, there’s good news to be found elsewhere in the charts, with Battlefield 1 sales rising 20 per cent week-on-week to shift it up to No.6, and Overwatch rose by 11 per cent week-on-week to bring it up to No.9 from No.11. Watch Dogs 2 also saw some growth of 8 per cent week-on-week, pushing it back into the Top 10 from its position in twelfth the week before.

Below is the software Top Ten for the week ending February 11th:
