Halo World Championship 2016 starts in December, prize pool now $1.7m

Microsoft has revealed that its Halo World Championship tournament will kick off at the start of this December.

The event will debut on December 6th with online ladders. Then between December 19th 2015 and January 31st 2016, Xbox will be holding its online qualifiers and regional in-person live events.

From January 23rd to February 21st, the region al finals will be taking place across America, Europe, Latin America, and Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

All of this culminates in the period between March 1st and March 20th when the prelims and finals will take place.

Xbox announced the Halo World Championship at Gamescom, with a prize pool of $1m. Last month, the platform holder revealed that this had grown to $1.5m due to microtransaction sales in Halo 5. That prize pot now stands at $1.7m.
