Harmonix lays off "small number" of staff

Music game studio Harmonix has let go of a small number” of employees due to shifting priorities regarding its future projects.

The Rock Band developer confirmed to Gamastura earlier this week that an undisclosed number of its staff had been let go.

"We can confirm that a small number of Harmonix employees were let go today," a studio rep stated. "This decision was made due to shifting staffing priorities for Harmonix’s multiple future projects."

The spokesperson added that the studio currently stands at over 150 employees.

While the layoff count remains unknown, Audio project lead Dan Crislip made mention on Twitter that he was among those affected by the cuts.

"Thanks Harmonix for the past six years. Yes, I was among those laid off today. It was a wild ride and I hope everyone keeps in touch!" Crislip posted.

Harmonix is currently developing Disney’s Fantasia: Music Evolved for a 2014 release on Xbox One and Xbox 360.
