Konami requests delisting for Skullgirls on Xbox Live and PSN

Xbox Live Arcade and PSN title Skullgirls looks likely to be removed from sale in the near future.

Polygon reports that Lab Zero Games design director Mike Zaimont confirmed via a Twitch stream that Sony had informed him of a request to remove the game (which was made without the studio’s knowledge) from PSN by co-publisher Konami.

As things stands, Skullgirls is due to be pulled from PSN on December 17th and from Xbox Live on December 31st.

A revised version of the game – this time published by Autumn alone – has been resubmitted to both companies but with the Christmas break rapidly approaching it faces the prospect of being forced from both services until after Christmas.

It’s also unclear whether existing owners of the game will be able to continue playing online once the games themselves have been pulled.

Lab Zero revealed last month that Konami and Autumn had “terminated their business relationship” – a move credited with the desire to speed up the release of patches for the game.
