MCV AWARDS 2013: Relive the highlights here

Hundreds of UK games industry execs headed to the London Lancaster Hotel for this year’s ceremony. The evening kicked off with a special performance from Games on Song, the choir formed by industry charity GamesAid, before comedian, Inbetweeners star and recurring MCV Awards host Greg Davies warmed up the audience with a quick stand-up routine.

There were 25 awards handed out throughout the night, with Ubisoft the big winners: the Assassin’s Creed publisher took home five awards, including Digital Distribution Team, Marketing Team and Game Campaign for the latest Creed title.

Other key wins included two prizes for EA, two for Activision and the new award for retail concept went to HMV’s Oxford Street showcase. GAME’s Martyn Gibbs was the recipient of this year’s Special Recognition award, while 30-year-old CentreSoft took home the Grand Prix. You can find a full list of this year’s winners here.

But there was more to the evening that just handing out hefty trophies.

Attendees were invited to relax at both before and after parties, with entertainment in the form of IGN’s casino tables, a welcoming committee of Dead Island zombies and Warner Bros’ Injustice: Gods Among Us photo booth, which let execs unleash their inner superhero.
