MCV Awards 2016 Finalist Profiles: PR Team

As we countdown to the MCV Awards 2016, which takes place in London on March 3rd, we profile each of the finalists for the PR Team award…

Activision

The reveal of Black Ops 3 in April generated over 500 million OTS and was covered by UK’s top tier mainstream outlets, including: The Sun, Metro, Times, GQ, Guardian, Mirror, Shortlist, GQ, WIRED, and the BBC.

Bandai Namco

The PR team delivered a record number of covers, plus awareness campaigns for The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt, Project CARS and Pac-Man, with world records and huge stunts.

Bethesda

The internal PR team, together with agencies Kazoo and Vault, worked on multiple titles across mainstream and specialist gaming media, encompasses editorial, social media and influencer content.

Capcom

The PR team started 2015 with Resident Evil HD and Resident Evil Revelations 2 before focussing on Street Fighter V in the summer and an event at the Ham Yard hotel in London, plus support for Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate and Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition.

Electronic Arts

Created successful campaigns that were fully integrated across owned, earned and social media and key influencers, including Star Wars Battlefront, FIFA 16 and NFL 16.

Koch Media

The team manages the campaigns for all Koch products whether that be owned Deep Silver products or from distribution partners. By the end of 2015 it had managed campaigns for 30 products.

Nintendo UK

The internal PR team continues to handle the media relations for a large number of properties including physical and digital software, hardware, the online store, amiibo and corporate opportunities across trade and consumer outlets.

PlayStation

In line with the overarching marketing strategy of ‘this is for the players’, the PR team uses ongoing insights work and audience profiling to develop creative campaigns that appeal directly to the target audience.

Sega

2015 wasn’t just about Football Manager, of course. But the FM PR juggernaut across specialist, mainstream, broadcast and national media played no small part in the game’s commercial, as well as its critical success.

Ubisoft

2015 saw a number of new additions to the Ubisoft PR team, with industry vets Stefan McGarry and Tom Goldberger being hired as senior PR managers. McGarry works across Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege and Tom Clancy’s The Division, while Goldberger handles Assassin’s Creed, Just Dance and Trials. The firm also hired a new PR executive in Holly Cooper. Last year the publisher handled PR pushes for Assassin’s Creed Syndicate and Rainbow Six: Siege.

WB Games

The WB Games UK PR team comprises of Spencer Crossley, Mark Ward, Ryan Holloway and Amy Irving, supported by Premier PR (Mortal Kombat X), Brown Betty PR (LEGO Jurassic World and LEGO Dimensions) and Stature PR (Batman: Arkham Knight, Mad Max and LEGO Marvel’s Avengers)

Xbox

Original, integrated PR campaigns for Xbox titles, along with a strategic comms plan for platform updates – including the New Xbox One Experience and Backward Compatibility – have helped to push the platform in trade and mainstream media.
