Lionhead names new studio boss
John Needham has been named as the new studio boss at Microsoft-owned developer Lionhead. Needham previously worked as CEO of both Cryptic Studios and Gazillion Entertainment.

This is a historic time in our industry and I’m excited, and honoured, to be joining Lionhead and Microsoft Studios,” said Needham.

Our vision is focused on building innovative gaming services and triple-A experiences at Lionhead, and the rest of Microsoft Studios, which take advantage of Microsoft’s incredible hardware and software platforms. Personally, I can’t wait to get started.”

Needham has over 12 years of experience working in business development with MMOs, subscription models and free-to-play gaming.

Iwata takes over Nintendo of America
As part of revealing its financial results, Nintendo announced that global president SATORU IWATA is taking on a second job at the firm as CEO of Nintendo of America. Current Nintendo of America boss TATSUMI KIMISHIMA is to become Nintendo’s global MD and he will take on the duties previously held by the general managers of corporate analysis and administration and general affairs division. Both managers are retiring in the summer. Nintendo of America COO and president REGGIE FILS-AIME will continue in his role and will now report directly to Iwata.

Mad Catz promotes Verrey
Alex Verrey has been promoted to the role of global PR and communications director at accessories firm Mad Catz.

Verrey joined Mad Catz following the acquisition of Joytech in 2007 and has been at the company during a period of growth that has seen Mad Catz move into new territories.

In his new role, Verrey will oversee the firm’s global public relations, working with regional marketing managers to devise product launch strategies and implementing them across multiple territories.

I’m delighted to continue my journey with Mad Catz in the role of global PR and communications director. My role allows me to work with our talented regional marketing managers to deliver world class public relations across multiple territories,” said Verrey.
