Minecraft creator Notch and Valve chief Gabe Newell make 2015 Forbes Rich List

The creator of Minecraft and the head of Valve now rank among the world’s most wealthy individuals.

That’s according to Forbes’ 2015 list of the world’s billionaries.

Microsoft founder Bill Gates is back at the top of the list, his pockets lined with a plush net worth of $79.2 billion.

Meanwhile, further down the rankings, US Valve chief Gabe Newell and Swedish Minecraft creator Markus ‘Notch’ Persson are new additions.

The two placed in joint 1,415th place, with Forbes estimating that both Newell and Persson hold around $1.3 billion apiece.

Other notable names in games to be worth in excess of a billion dollars include Nexon’s Kim Jung-Ju and NCsoft’s Kim Taek-Jin, as well as Naruatsu Baba, who founded Japanese mobile behemoth Colpol.

Among the business people to place higher than all of the video games firms on the list are multi-billion-dollar experts in confectionary, beer, Nutella, fertiliser and, at number 21, ball bearings magnate Georg Schaeffler.
