Minecraft-inspired Dragon Quest Builders is coming to the West

Square Enix’s take on the Minecraft series Dragon Quest Builders is set for a Western release.

In a post on the PlayStation blog, Square Enix community manager Dan Seto says that Builders is coming to both PlayStation 4 and Vita in October.

The PS4 SKU is getting both a boxed and digital release, while the Vita edition is only launching digitally.

The title launched in Japan in at the start of the year, and resulted in Vita hardware sales tripling on its launch week.

Dragon Quest games are traditionally RPGs, but this takes a leaf out of Minecraft’s book with players able to build structures similar to Mojang’s hit. It even features a similar voxel-based aesthetic.

When you consider that Minecraft has sold over 70m copies, you can’t really blame Square Enix for wanting to get in on that action.
