Mod DB and Indie DB join Eurogamer parent Gamer Network

Gamer Network, the firm behind Eurogamer, Rock Paper Shotgun and EGX, has added two sizable new brands to its portfolio.

Mod DB and Indie DB will be familiar names to anyone involved in the PC gaming scene, with the former serving as one of the largest mod-focused outlets still in existence.

First established 13 years ago as a haven for user-made custom versions of and add-ons for PC titles, Mod DB now sees in excess of 29 million pageviews each month.

The site is dedicated to independentally-developed game mods, add-ons and DLC, while sister site Indie DB serves as a developer-run community for indies and smaller studios, allowing them to share their work-in-progress and follow the progress of their peers from concept to release.

Both of the websites are built around user-generated content, which Gamer Network said will ‘perfectly complement’ the editorial output from the rest of its group.

The addition to Indie DB follows several efforts by Gamer Network to bolster its presence in the indie sector, including coverage across the range of sites, the indie-focused EGX Rezzed event (plus its presence at the full-size EGX show) and the recently-launched Gamer’s Edition series of limited edition game releases, which have counted indie darlings Hotline Miami 2, Papers, Please and Kerbal Space Program among their special versions.

I’ve long admired Gamer Network’s close relationship with gamers and developers,"said Indie DB and Mod DB founder Scott Reismanis.

We’ve always worked hard to bridge that gap, and give creators a voice and community they can share their work on. This partnership allows us to focus on that aim, whilst working with a network that understands the needs of developers of all sizes."

Rupert Loman, CEO of Gamer Network, added:We’ve been fans of Mod DB and Indie DB for a long time, so we’re delighted to welcome them to the Gamer Network family.

"The PC, indie and modding communities are at the forefront of our industry and, as a company, we’re committed to supporting their growth."
