New Wii U Art Academy game pencilled in for June release

After a two year wait, the first fully-fledged Art Academy title has been revealed for Wii U.

Art Academy: Atelier will come to Nintendo’s home console on June 26th, almost two years after it was announced during a Nintendo Direct.

It’s the second Art Academy game to come to Wii U, following the release of Art Academy: SketchPad back in 2013.

While SketchPad served as a taster title, with limited functionality,Atelier will include features such as the ability to use the Wii U Gamepad as a canvas, a multi-tiered Lesson Mode tutorial, a virtual art Gallery and YouTube time-lapse uploads, making it the second-such title to include YouTube compatibility after Mario Kart 8.

Unlike the digital-only SketchPad, Atelierwill be available both via the Nintendo eShop and at retail, costing 24.99 on the former. Existing SketchPad owners will be eligible for a discount on the game, bringing the cost down to 12.40.
