Some of the figures featured in Nintendo’s initial shipment of Amiibo figures will not be restocked, the platform holder has confirmed.
We will aim for certain Amiibo to always be available,” the platform holder told Wired.
These will be for our most popular characters like Mario and Link. Due to shelf space constraints, other figures likely will not return to the market once they have sold through their initial shipment.”
Canadian retailer VideoGamesPlus earlier this week tweeted that Nintendo has officially discontinued Marth, Wii Fit Trainer & Villager Amiibos” and despite the widespread derision the company received on the social network, it looks like it may well have been spot on.
It also suggests that the shortage of some Amiibos is down to more than simply rumoured supply problems in Europe currently affecting a number of Nintendo products. Indeed, Amiibo shortages seem to be more or less a global issue.
