Nintendo launches digital store on Amazon for Wii U, 3DS games

Amazon users in the US now have the option to purchase Wii U and 3DS digital downloads, thanks to Nintendo’s new space on the online retailer.

The storefront currently carries 61 titles between Nintendo’s current console and handheld, including Mario Kart 8, Splatoon and Super Smash Bros. The partnership with Amazon marks the first time Nintendo has gone outside its eShop to sell downloadable games.

Customers will be taken to a ‘thank you’ page with a Nintendo Network link that will automatically redeem any content codes purchased. The content is then sent directly to the user’s Nintendo hardware.

Pricing on the available products match the eShop – though it’s possible Amazon will run sales independent of the publisher’s promotions.
