Paradox Interactive to open new studio dedicated to mobile game development

Paradox Interactive is to open a new studio completely dedicated to mobile game development, the publisher announced today.

The new studio will open inMalm, Sweden – the home of Little Nightmares developers Tarsier Studios and Massive Entertainment – and will be populated with a small team of developers led by former King general manager Kim Nordstrm.

Nordstrm joined the studio last November as senior vice president of innovation and mobile, and said at the time he was "very excited to be part of the innovation initiatives preparing the company for the future, and to lead the investments needed to enter the mobile market."

So far,Nordstrm has already confirmed a mobile version of Introversion Software’s Prison Architect, but it’s currently unclear whether future projects will focus on brand-new mobile titles, Paradox’s own franchises or whether it will work with other studios like Introversion to bring other third-party titles to mobile.

Today Nordstrmcommented: Paradox is committed to exploring new territory in mobile game development, and I’m eager to lead that charge. Our plan is to bring the iconic Paradox style to mobile players across a broad catalogue of titles. To achieve that, it’s important that we bring aboard the right people – people capable of delivering the kind of hardcore strategic titles we’re known for on PC. Games like Prison Architect: Mobile are just the beginning.”

We chose Malm because it has such a vibrant development community, and we know there’s plenty of talent to be found here,” said Susana Meza Graham, COO at Paradox Interactive. In the coming months we are looking to add several new members to the team, both in Malm and the mobile publishing team in Stockholm.”
