Platinum drops possible Vanquish 2 hint

Bayonetta developer Platinum Games is to announce a new title at E3 next week, and Vanquish 2 is the name on people’s lips.

IGN this week revealed that it will be premiering footage of a new title from the studio during its E3 live show next Tuesday (June 16th) at 10pm.

Now the studio has tweeted an image of its 2010 shooter along with the message Here’s a Boost to help you through Wednesday”.

Platinum has since 2009 released a string of critically acclaimed titles but, sadly, has yet to enjoy the same level of commercial success.

In 2009 it released Wii title MadWorld and multiplatform action outing Bayonetta. This was followed by Vanquish the subsequent year and the less successful Anarchy Reigns in 2012. 2013 saw the release of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and Wii U exclusive The Wonderful 101.

Its most recent release was Wii U exclusive Bayonetta 2 in 2014. While commercially unexciting the game was again toasted by reviewers, and Platinum has made no secret of how much it enjoyed the experience of working closely with Nintendo.

Platinum is also currently working on Xbox One exclusive Scalebound.
