Pokemon New 2DS XL will launch on same day as Ultra Sun and Moon

The Switch may have been the main star of last night’s Nintendo Direct broadcast, but the 3DS wasn’t to be overlooked, as Nintendo announced yet another special edition hardware bundle for the handheld console to celebrate the upcoming launch of Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.

The Poke Ball-themed New Nintendo 2DS XL system will launch in Europe on November 17th alongside the games (pictured), but those looking for a copy of the games themselves will have to buy them separately.

Nintendo also confirmed that the New Nintendo 3DS XL: SNES Edition would be arriving alongside three new entries in the Nintendo Selects range on October 13th. These include Super Mario 3D Land, Kirby’s Triple Deluxe and Luigi’s Mansion 2.

Meanwhile, Minecraft will also be arriving on New Nintendo 3DS systems very soon, allowing Minecraft fans to play the game on the go. The New Nintendo 3DS Edition comes with both Survival and Creative modes, along with five skin packs and two texture packs, and will be arriving first on the Nintendo eShop before appearing in stores at a later date. It won’t, however, be receiving the Better Together Update like the Switch version to allow crossplay between different platforms, Mojang’s Aubrey Norris confirmed on Twitter this morning, as it’s a custom-built version.

Other new titles include Mario Party: The Top 100, which brings together the best 100 mini-games from Mario Party games through the ages into a single cartridge and launches in January 2018, and New Style Boutique 3: Styling Star, which will release on November 24th.

RPG specialistAtlus is also making good on its promise to publish more games in Europe, as it will be bringing both The Alliance Alive to the Nintendo eShop as a digital exclusive in early 2018, as well as Etrian Odyssey V: Beyond the Myth this autumn.
