PS4 sells 322k in opening weekend in Japan

The PS4 arrived in Japan on Saturday and has already sold in excess of a quarter of a million units.

Famitsu, according to a Siliconera translation, reports that Sony’s new console sold 322,083 units in its first weekend in Japan. That’s far more than PS3’s opening weekend sales of 88,443.

It also beat Wii U’s debut performance (308,570) although fell short of PS2’s (630,552).

In its first weekend in the UK PS4 sold over 250k units.

As of last week global PS4 sales stood at 5.3m units. It’s safe to say that number will have likely hit or even succeeded 6m units by now.
