PS4 to hit Japan and US in 2013… but Europe in 2014 – report

Sony may be looking to break with tradition with the PS4, but one old habit could rear its ugly head.

As was the way with the launch of PS3, which launched in Japan and North America in November 2006 but didn’t arrive in Europe until March 2007, Edge believes that PS4 will arrive overseas by the end of 2013 but not hit Europe until early 2014.

The complex European market is apparently to blame.

The site adds that the console will come with a redesigned controller featuring a touchpad where the current model houses its Home, Start and Select buttons. The tech will be the same as that utilised in the Vita’s rear touchpad.

Also new on the controller is a Share button that will allow users to share screenshots and video online, with the most recent 15 minutes of gameplay being constantly recorded by the console.

A redesigned PlayStation Eye is also planned, it is said, which will up the tech included and remain compatible with the PlayStation Move.

The PS4 will be revealed at a New York press gathering on February 20th. MCV will have a man on the ground and will bring you the announcement the moment it happens.
