Report – Aliens: Colonial Marines studio Timegate suffers layoffs

Timegate Studios, one of the development house’s that worked on Aliens: Colonial Marines, has been hit with layoffs.

The Texas-based studio’s president Adel Chaveleh confirmed to Polygon that an unspecified number of employees have been let go.

"Today, we had to make the difficult decision to let go of some great game developers. This is never easy, and we’re doing all we can to assist those developers affected," Chaveleh said.

"Timegate is preparing, as is the entire industry, for the transition to next-generation consoles and new business models. As part of this reinvention, all projects and strategic initiatives continue to move forward at the studio."

Polygon sources claim that about” 25 people were let go Monday morning, adding that the dominos fell after a publishing deal fell through.

Timegate was formed in 1998 and worked on games such as Section 8, FEAR Files and, more recently, Aliens: Colonial Marines. Colonial Marines received mostly negative reviews, which were blamed on the shared development of the game across multiple studios.
