The Wii U Basic model’s run at GameStop will reportedly come to an end later this month.
According to Kotaku, the video game retailer has notified staff that existing Wii U Basic hardware units will be “recalled” on Tuesday, June 18th.
The 8GB white version of the console currently retails for $299.99 in the US. A $349.99 32GB black Deluxe model carries 32 GB of storage and includes a copy of Nintendo Land along with more accessories than the basic model.
The pull date takes place a week after the Nintendo Direct broadcast synchornized with E3 and a Wii U "software showcase” happening during the event.
Additionally, Nintendo of Japan just announced the Wii U Premium Set, a new 32 GB model of the console in white.
"We do not comment on our business practices with retailers,” a Nintendo rep told Polygon.
