Resident Evil stunt attracts half a million players

A specialist Resident Evil ‘alternative reality’ game has already drawn in half a million players as momentum builds for 2012 title Raccoon City.

The marketing campaign kicked off on Wednesday, August 31st. Capcom hired creative agency SJS to design and implement the Inserted Evil alternative reality game.

Players visited www.insertedevil.com and took part in an online treasure hunt, with prizes and game information to be discovered. A recruitment site also launched at www.umbrellasciences.com, under the guise of the fictional firm which made the zombie virus in Resident Evil.

Resident Evil:?Operation Raccoon City is due on Xbox 360 and PS3 on March 23rd, 2012.

Ben Wyer-Roberts, the title’s strategic marketing manager, said:?SJS has helped deliver the most successful Resident Evil community program ever.”
