Ubisoft hopes to add titles from other publishers to its newly-launched UPlay app in future.
The service currently only sells digital versions of Ubi’s own PC titles, but could be expanded to rival the likes of EA’s Origin and Steam.
“We remain open to opportunities,” Ubisoft’s Stephanie Perotti told MCV during last week's Digital Days showcase in Paris.
“Right now, we’re starting the service with our own games, but as we go forward, we plan to potentially add other titles.”
UPlay first went live in 2009, and centred around an Achievement-like points system that allowed users to unlock DLC and other extras across all of Ubisoft’s titles.
Last month, it was revamped so that gamers can download games directly from Ubisoft via a new app. It has also added social features such as a friends list and chat system.
The move drew instant comparisons with established download platforms such as Steam and EA’s Origin, but Ubisoft promises that UPlay will offer customers much more.
“The plan for UPlay goes beyond digital distribution,” said Perotti.
“We continue to evolve the service across all platforms, including PC, console and mobile. The more Ubisoft games you play, the more rewards you can get, as well as several online services that players would expect.”
