Rocket League is getting the toys treatment

Cars-meet-football title Rocket League will be getting a line of car toys this spring, after developer Psyonix partnered with creator of licensed collectibles Zag Toys. The line will include 12 pull-back racer cars (see below), which will each come inside a miniature Rocket Ball. Some of these mini-cars will also include codes to access original content in Rocket League.

These Original Minis will be similar to the toy cars we all grew up with (or if you’re me, still play with now),” Psyonix’s community managerDevin Connorssaid on Rocket League’s website. Pull the Racer back on the carpet or floor, wait as the power ratchet up, and let it fly!

We’re also bringing some unique in-game content with these new Original Minis, as some of the Racers will include a code that can be redeemed in Rocket League for a special Rocket Trail and Wheel! Octane, Dominus, Masamune, Hotshot, Grog, X-Devil, Merc, and Backfire will all be part of the new Original Minis line, along with four limited variants to round out the first dozen Racers. All the cars are part of a blind bag system, so try to collect them all!”

Psyonix has been talking about launching toys based on Rocket League since at least September 2015. Since them, the title has been an impressive (and surprising) success, hitting 1m sales on Steam in just seven weeks, and then getting a physical release in 2016. Rocket League ended up being the best-selling game on the PlayStation Store last year, and recently surpassed 25m players.
