Rogen and Goldberg to co-direct Console Wars film adaptation

Comedy writers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are set to write and co-direct a movie adaptation of Blake J. Harris’s upcoming book, Console Wars.

Rogen and Goldberg’s credits include penning the scripts of comedy films Superbad and Knocked Up. Polygonfurther reports that Sony Pictures will assist with the development of the film documenting the 1990s power struggle between Nintendo and Sega.

The story revolves around Sega in the early days during its rush into the home console market, competing with Nintendo for control of the living room.

The book itself draws from more than 200 interviews with former employees of both companies. It also chronicles the arrival and shake-up of Sega by then-president, Tom Kalinske.

Blake Harris’s amazing book has all the narrative drama of the work of Michael Lewis and Ben Mezrich," Atlantic Books founder Toby Mundy said. "It should appeal to gamers and non-gamers alike."

Console Wars will be available on May 13th, according to the book’s Amazon pre-order page. No word on when the film is expected to premiere.
