Sony thinks it ‘unwise’ to put constraints on Kojima

A Hideo Kojima freed from Konami’s publishing demands may appear a thing of nightmares, but Sony says that trying to shackle a creative mind like his is a mistake.

If you try to place too many constraints on a free spirit like that it’s probably not a wise thing to do,” Sony Europe boss Jim Ryan told VG247.

But equally, clearly, with something like that there’s a significant investment on the part of Sony, and all of us who make those sort of decisions around that sort of investment are ultimately accountable to Sony shareholders. It’s a balance between allowing the creativity to flourish and recognising that we’re part of a business.”

Kojima’s unveiled his first solo game on Sony’s E3 stage – Death Stranding. The video, which criminally does not carry the title ‘Peak Kojima’, is a thing to behold. So behold it:
