Temple Run series reaches 1bn downloads

Temple Run and Temple Run 2 have combined for more than 1bn downloads on mobile devices, developer Imangi Studios has announced.

The enormous milestone was reached even without the aid of Temple Run’s crossover promo titles Temple Run: Brave and Temple Run: Oz.

"Having Temple Run reach the one billion downloads mark is a milestone we couldn’t have imagined when we first started out," Imangi co-founder Keith Shepherd said.

"We’re incredibly grateful to all the Temple Run players and our wonderful team. We look forward to continuing to grow the Temple Run franchise, as well as creating additional innovative games."

Over 32bn games have been played in the free-to-play franchise, resulting in 216,018 years of play logged and 50 trillion metres of in-game track traversed.

The original Temple Run was released on iOS back in 2011, with the sequel arriving last year and racking up 20m downloads by the middle of its launch week.
