The average mobile gamer of 2014 is some seven years younger than just one year ago.
That’s according to the 2014 Deconstructing Mobile & Tablet Gaming Report from EEDAR, as reported by Polygon.
In 2013 the average age of a North American person who played games on their mobile device was 34. In 2014 that figure stands at 27.7 years old.
It is said that the shift is down to the increased ownership of smart devices among ever younger consumers.
The number of mobile gamers in the region has also jumped from 111m in 2013 to 142m, with users on average spending $32.65 on games throughout the year. This represents total revenue of $4.6bn. Over half of that revenue comes from just six per cent of spenders.
Casual mobile games are on average 26 years old, with 70 per cent being female. The average age of the core mobile gamer is 30, with 58 per cent being male.
