The Division claims yet another record

Ubisoft’s shooter RPG hybrid The Division has set yet another record for the publisher.

The game today celebrates its fourth consecutive week at the top of the GfK Entertainment All Formats Top 40. That’s the longest run at No.1 for any Ubisoft title in the company’s history.

Last month the publisher announced that The Division sold more copies in its first 24 hours than any other Ubisoft title in the company’s history, beating the likes of Assassin’s Creed and Watch Dogs.

The latter title, incidentally, was previously the fastest selling new IP ever before being beaten by Activision’s Destiny. That’s another record The Division has claimed, too – it’s now the fastest selling new IP ever, surpassing the Bungie shooter.

Were those three records not enough, The Division also claimed a new crown as the best-selling Q1 release ever, beating the 11-year record holder Gran Turismo 4.

Can The Division make it five weeks at No.1? Next week it will have Quantum Break to deal with, although note that only physical Xbox One sales will be counted, meaning Windows Store purchases by PC players won’t count. Also out this week is the console version of Codemasters’ Dirt Rally and Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Bandai Namco’s Dark Souls 3 doesn’t arrive until next week.
