The Division is the best-ever selling Q1 game

Ubisoft said it was going to do it, and The Division has delivered.

Last month the publisher told MCV that it thought The Division could be the best selling Q1 release ever. And that’s precisely what it’s achieved.

The Tom Clancy shooter has broken the 11-year record set by Sony’s Gran Turismo 4 way back in 2005 to claim the crown. The title becomes the biggest ever Tom Clancy launch and is Ubisoft’s third biggest launch ever behind Watch Dogs and Assassin’s Creed III.

The publisher previously revealed that the game broke internal sales records in its first 24 hours.

Ubisoft in fact has three titles in the GFK Chart-Track All Formats Top Ten this week, with Far Cry Primal slipping to No.2 and Rainbow Six: Siege dropping one spot to 10th.

It’s likely that Square Enix’s Hitman would have charted highly should digital sales be counted in the listing, although it does make an appearance in 29th, presumably thanks to the physical release of the game’s Collector’s Edition, which includes a download code and Agent 47 statue.

Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD slips seventh places to 9th. Sony’s Heavy Rain & Beyond Two Souls Collection drops out of the Top Ten to 11th.

Here’s the Top Ten for the week ending March 12th 2016:
1. The Division (Ubisoft)
2. Far Cry Primal (Ubisoft)
3. Call of Duty: Black Ops III (Activision)
4. FIFA 16 (EA)
5. Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 (EA)
6. LEGO Marvel Avengers (Warner Bros)
7. Grand Theft Auto V (Rockstar)
8. Forza Motorsport 6 (Microsoft)
9. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD (Nintendo)
10. Rainbow Six: Siege (Ubisoft)
