The Force is strong with Angry Birds: Star Wars

Two massive IPs look set to unite for a brand new Angry Birds outing.

USA Today reports that Angry Birds: Star Wars will be released on November 8th for iOS, Android ‘computers’. The game’s familiar cast will adopt the likenesses and personalities of the biggest characters from the Star Wars universe.

The red bird is becoming Luke Skywalker and you can also expect appearances from Princess Leia, Han Solo, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Chewbacca – as well as The Dark Lord of the Sith himself, Darth Vader.

It will use the gameplay template from Angry Birds Space, with the planets based on recognisable film locales, such as Luke’s homeworld of Tatooine and the Ice Planet Hoth.

A sizable Angry Birds Star Wars merchandise push is also planned.

"They are not Angry Birds dressed up asStar Warscharacters," Lucasfilm’s president of licensing and consumer products marketing Paul Southern stated. "They are characters in their own right."

Previous Angry Birds tie-ins include animated movie Rio and NASA.

An official announcement will likely be made some time today, so keep an eye on the new Angry Birds Tumblr. Here’s the teaser video:
