Twitch has announced Clips; a new feature that allows viewers to save 30 second video clips from any live stream.
When something amazing happens on stream, all users have to do is press the Clip button, this will save the previous 25 seconds of the stream along with the next five seconds, to create a clip. The clip will be saved onto the Twitch servers and can be accessed by a URL, which can be shared with the world.
Clips will always link back to the original broadcast, making sure that the streamer is always a part of the equation, unlike some other similar services. The user that created the clip will also be mentioned in the clip, making sure you get the credit you deserve for spotting those incredible moments that make Twitch so entertaining.

Clips now joins the list as an easy-to-use tool that lets community members share their favorite broadcast moments, whether it be an incredible play, a hilarious sound byte or a jump scare reaction. The move seems to be Twitch’s attempt at forcing similar services out of the market. Oddshot has long been the leading service in this space, but is often criticised for cutting the streamers out of the equation and as a result taking revenue away from them. Twitch’s new service will always make sure that the Clip is part of the original broadcast, and therefore streamers can still benefit from clips of their steam being shared.
