Ubi expecting 50% digital revenue by 2017

Ubisoft wants its digital business to reach a 50 per cent share of its turnover within three to four years.

The ambitious goal came from Alain Corre at Ubisoft’s recent Digital Days, where the publisher showcased the wide net its digital operations had cast.

Ubisoft revealed a number of new digital only titles including Child of Light and Valiant Hearts, and also highlighted the importance of digital to its next-gen console plans.

“Digital will represent a lot of different platforms. We really believe that all the companion apps, all these second-screen features, will also be a lot more present here in the next year,” added Ubisoft EMEA marketing director for digital publisher Thomas Paincon.

“And the next-gen is more digital than ever, so I think that a shift will arrive. But it will not mean ‘no retail’ anymore, I don’t believe in that. I think it will be always based around retail.”
