VIDEO: Check out the first footage of Gran Turismo 6 here

Sony has officially unveiled Gran Turismo 6, a brand new entry in Polyphony Digital’s acclaimed racing simulator series.

The cat was let out of the bag earlier today, and Sony teased a proper reveal last week. And now it’s officially official, so check out the first footage for yourself below.

As we reported earlier, Gran Turismo is due for release on PS3 by the end of the year – a slightly odd decision to some, given the expected release of PlayStation 4 this Christmas. That said, rumours that GT6 would be a current gen title have been doing the rounds since February – turns out they were bang on the money.

The game will feature 1,200 cars on day one, with more to be released as post-launch DLC and the promise that it will contain 200 more vehicles than Gran Turismo 5. Downloadable tracks will be made available ever month, as well as new custom parts.

Producer Kazunori Yamauchi confirmed GT6 will have a new game and physics engine, plus revamped suspension, tyre and aerodynamics model, and a bunch of other features that will no doubt thrill petrolheads.
