Microsoft’s Windows boss Steven Sinofsky has, in a surprise move, suddenly left the company.
No official reason has been given for the decision, but coming so soon after the launch of Microsoft’s iPad rival Surface it’s hard not to jump to conclusion – particularly when boss Steve Ballmer himself describes launch sales of the tablet as starting modestly”.
Sinofsky was the public face of both Windows 8 and Surface
Windows 7 and Windows 8 programming manager Julie Larson-Green has stepped up to replace him with CFO and CMO Tami Reller assuming control of the business side of Microsoft’s operations.
Over the past few months we have delivered the foundation for a new era for Microsoft,” Ballmer said in a letter sent to employees, as published by The Verge. As we enter this new era, and with the successful launch of Windows 8 and Surface behind us, Steven Sinofsky has decided to leave the company.
