Xbox 720 specs will be "aligned" with PS4, Ubisoft dev claims

With its potential reveal now just three weeks away, the veil of secrecy surrounding Xbox 360’s successor is slowly – very, very slowly – beginning to lift.

Although he understandably would not be drawn on specifics, Ubisoft Montreal’s Yanis Mallet has told Eurogamer that Microsoft’s new machine "aligned with what Sony announced", adding that: "It’s going to be connected. It’s going to be social. It’s going to be immersive. It’s going to be interactive."

Until now rumour had suggested that PS4 would offer more grunt than Microsoft’s machine.

It’s not much, we admit. But it’s something. And the ‘somethings’ are becoming ever so slightly more frequent.

Yesterday we learned that the new console uses a controller that is fundamentally the same as the existing Xbox 360 pad. Microsoft has decided against adding a touch screen or motion tracking.

MCV also revealed earlier in the week that contrary to some reports Microsoft HAS been briefing partners on the new machine. However, while PS4 info is now free to come by Microsoft has enforced some of the toughest NDAs we’ve ever encountered to maintain Xbox 720 security.

Microsoft’s new console is expected to be revealed at a press briefing at the end of the month.
